IGG – season is opened in Finland!
IGG Finland took a part into winter flying happening Arctic Hysteria,17th-18th March, at Lake Päijänne,
Padasjoki town. We had a wonderfull time with other aviators, among with paragaliders, ultralight planes etc, even 5 Finnish Air Force Hornets´s visited us there!
Saturday was very low cloud base, varying 100 – 250 meter height, but still we had a good day,
resulting close 30 tows in ”relatively ”lousy weather. Season´s first flight also to your well-known Pilatus B4 !
Forecast was promising excellent weather for Sunday, so everybody was prepared for early morning start -up.
Like forecast promised, weather resulted more than expected, more or less zero-winds,
sky-clear, and + 6 C temperature!
Season´s first thermals where found, for eg. Pilatus B4 took 1 hour flight, among with some 3 more half an hour flights.Fredrik´s old Pilatus was day´s best thermal catcher!
Thermals where smooth and large, taking easily to 600-700m altitude.
Season opening weekend ended apprx 70 tows, we had 14 pilots together there.
It was great launch for 2012 IGG – season!
See you at Ålleberg!
